Lampworking Glasses – FitProtek with Sodium Flare Polycarbonate Lens

The lampworking glasses Sodium Flare Poly have a polycarbonate purple glassworking lens that provides good color recognition for soft glass. These flameworking glasses offer excellent UV blocker, good IR protection, excellent sodium flare blocker, and good clarity. Recommended for those who work with lampwork or hot glass in small pieces.

These lampworking glasses FitProtek, have a durable and lightweight frame that can be used as a fitover or regular glasses made of high-quality plastic. The FitProtek lampworking glasses feature rubberized temple bars. These Phillips Safety lampworking glasses are available in blue, gray, and pink.

This polycarbonate is very efficient in filtering sodium flare in addition to providing good ultraviolet protection.  It is very comfortable for viewing under high ambient light conditions such as when working with glowing heat sources for a duration of time. Also, although it has a relatively low luminous transmission of 38%, it is not recommended for glassworking where Infrared protection is needed.  This filter is more for soft glass usage

Lampworking is a type of glasswork in which a torch or lamp is used to melt the glass. Once in a molten state, the glass is formed by blowing and shaping with tools and hand movements. It is also known as flameworking or torchworking, as the modern practice no longer uses oil-fueled lamps.
